The Hippopotamus, by Wendy Murdock

Behold the hippo, oh so fat
he bathes within a giant vat
of sudsy water (nice and hot)
he needs a brush to reach each spot.
He dries with towels 10 feet wide
so warm and snuggly on his hide.
Although he’s out of place at school
a hippo in the bath is cool.

The problem is, he’s awfully brash
and sits down with a great big splash.
Yes, once a hippo’s through your door
he’ll always wet the bathroom floor.

So, please, avoid your mother’s wrath
and keep the hippo from your bath.
