Aesop's Fables
A fable is a story, play or narration used to illustrate a specific point
or moral. Often in fables there will be supernatural occurrences or animals
that talk or act like humans.
These fables were written by Aesop,
many centuries ago.
Fairy Tales
For centuries, fairies, elves and various little people have been up to
all sorts of mischief. Fairy tales started as stories about the wee folk
and have since evolved into all sorts of fantastic fables and whimsical
legends.
Poetry
Poems can be short, such as a five-line haiku. Poems can be long, for
example, entire epics such as Beowulf and The Odyssey. Poems, like people, come in all
shapes and sizes. Sometimes they rhyme, sometimes they don't.

Folk Tales
Folk tales are stories people tell to pass on beliefs from one generation
to another. In the old days before you were born and even before anybody
you know was born, people would tell tales to explain history, ideas and
the way the world worked.
Folk tales come from all different places around the world.
Campfire Stories
Imagine sitting around in the dark of night, around a crackling campfire.
Away from the light of the fire, everything is black, you never know what
is lurking around in the darkness. Owls hoot, a hawk screams, something
crashes through the underbrush. It's the perfect time for a story that
will give you goosebumps.
